General Manager

 Location: North Eastern Saskatchewan

Our client is a well established, profitable, multi-million dollar specialty feed processing company. Their current General Manager is retiring, leaving "big shoes to fill". Their field crew harvests over 50,000 acres each summer and their plant operations team processes over 50,000 tonnes of product for export each year. We are looking for a new General Manager that can maintain their current high quality and cost control standards plus explore ideas for improvement and diversification.

You will be responsible for the overall management of the company. This will include financial duties like: capital expenditure analysis, budgeting long term and short term plant maintenance, forecasting, cost control analysis, and cash flow analysis. You will also have business management duties like: staffing, salary and bonus assessments, monthly reporting, authorization of purchase orders and payments, and contracting the supply of raw product with local growers.

You will work very closely with your production manager who is responsible for of the day-to-day field and plant operations. You will also work closely with the corporate accountant on the more sophisticated financial analysis that is required for a business of this size. The incumbent General Manager has a terrific team in place and the business is running smoothly.

We are looking for someone who can keep things running long term plus take responsibility for identifying and assessing new complimentary products and services that would allow this business to grow. To be a candidate you must have an agricultural background and sound business management experience. All combinations of people management skills, financial skills, business management skills, entrepreneurial skills, process / production skills, and post-secondary education will be considered. Because of the strength of the current staff we can consider a junior, intermediate or senior level person. Compensation and performance expectations will be commensurate with your performance track record and experience.
