Philippe Savoie

  Philippe Savoie, PhD., ing., agr., is awarded the Maple Leaf Award for his distinguished leadership in Agricultural and Biological Engineering through teaching, research and professional service. He is a Research Scientist, Harvest and Storage of forages with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) and an Adjunct Professor at Université Laval in Sainte-Foy, QC.
  Philippe earned a B.Sc. (Agr.Eng.) degree from McGill University, an M.Sc. degree from Université Laval and a Ph.D. from Michigan State University. He is a strong and devoted advocate for CSAE/SCGR, having served as Regional Director (Québec), Vice-President (Technical) and President. His dedication to the profession and his outstanding work in the field of power and machinery as well as his leadership in the organization of technical seminars at the regional and national levels make him a worthy recipient of recognition at the highest possible level.
  Dr. Savoie received CSAE/SCGR's Glenn Downing Award in 1996 for his ability as a designer who applies the principles of systems engineering throughout his work, from impact studies to commercial prototypes. He has worked extensively in the field of harvesting, conservation and utilization of forage, cooperating closely with producers and machinery manufacturers. He has worked in close cooperation with researchers around the world and has developed a strong partnership with the farm machinery industry. His research has resulted in numerous refereed publications, technical reports and extension publications.
  His involvement with students and the agricultural community and the excellent research and development in the field of crop storage and mechanization make Philippe Savoie a worthy recipient of the Maple Leaf Award.

 

   Philippe Savoie, PhD., ing., agr., est récipiendaire du prix «Maple Leaf» en reconnaissance de son remarquable leadership en génie agroalimentaire dans les secteurs de la recherche, de l'enseignement et des services professionnels. Il est chercheur scientifique spécialisé en récolte et conservation des fourrages à Agriculture et Agroalimentaire Canada; il est aussi professeur associé à l'Université Laval à Sainte-Foy (Québec).
  Philippe Savoie a obtenu un baccalauréat en génie rural de l'Université McGill, une maîtrise de l'Université Laval et un doctorat de Michigan State University. Il a rendu de nombreux services à sa profession, ayant été le directeur régional pour le Québec, le vice-président aux affaires techniques et le président de la Société canadienne de génie rural (CSAE/SCGR). Par son dévouement à la profession, ses réalisations techniques dans le domaine du machinisme agricole et son leadership dans l'organisation de conférences régionales et nationales, le Dr. Savoie a démontré qu'il est un digne récipiendaire de la haute distinction remise à un membre de la profession au Canada.
  Le Dr. Savoie a reçu le prix «Glenn Downing» de la CSAE/SCGR en 1996 pour ses travaux de recherche utilisant les principes d'ingénierie et ayant abouti à certaines applications commerciales. Il a collaboré avec des producteurs agricoles et des manufacturiers de machines agricoles pour l'avancement de techniques de récolte, de conservation et d'utilisation des plantes fourragères. Il a développé des partenariats avec l'industrie canadienne et avec des chercheurs de plusieurs pays étrangers. Il a diffusé ses travaux de recherche par de nombreuses publications scientifiques, des rapports techniques et des textes de vulgarisation.
   Grâce à son implication avec les étudiants et la communauté agricole, grâce aussi à son excellent travail de recherche et de développement en mécanisation agricole , le Dr. Philippe Savoie mérite pleinement le prix «Maple Leaf»
